DeKALB – Police issued a community alert Thursday evening on nonspecific threats of possible violence at DeKalb High School, according to a DeKalb Police Department news release.
The department has not found any evidence to substantiate the threat or cause concern, the release says.
The alert comes one week after a false alarm at Sycamore High School, in which a mechanical malfunction of the school's BluePoint system caused the building to be evacuated.
The release said the school notified parents about a public safety threat through its automated alert notification system.
"Based on the recent incidents in other communities, the police department will increase the police presence at the school as a precaution and to ensure the safety of our children, staff and visitors associated with the high school," the release states.
No one at the police department could provide further information Thursday evening
Anyone with information on the incident or any suspicious activity should call the police department at 815-748-8400.
