DeKALB – Not every holiday menu comes with health in mind.
St. Patrick’s Day usually involves a lot of delicious food that doesn’t take into account modern dietary needs. But it doesn’t need to be that way. Irish recipes often call for whole foods and healthy ingredients.
From 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, the DeKalb Public Library will host a St. Patrick’s Day feast with some new twists on old classics. Try a lighter version of colcannon, or a meatless shepherd’s pie, and get recipes and tips for reducing fat and salt in everyday cooking. Everyone is welcome.
This program is free and requires no registration. It is part of the “A Healthy Mind, in a Healthy Body” initiative between the library and the DeKalb Kiwanis Club. There is a limited amount of food, so come early to get a meal.
