Catapults and more during Mighty Makers

DeKALB – Want to make your own music? Learn how to build a band on a computer using Scratch, a fun way to learn computer coding, at 1 p.m. Monday during the Mighty Makers at the DeKalb Public Library.

The group will learn some basic coding, including loops and conditional statements, while having fun adding instruments to their own band. Familiarity with computers is required, but no coding experience in necessary.

The program will be taught at the internet computers in the Youth Services department.

Back by popular demand, Mighty Makers will be building catapults again. At 1 p.m. June 23, the group will learn the science behind catapults, then build their own to launch pingpong balls. This program will be in the Story and Activity Room on the second level.

These free programs are recommended for children in grades
K to 5. Space is limited to 20 participants.

Registration will begin 15 minutes before the start of the program. First-come, first-served.
