Indian Valley Theatre has announced the recipients for this year’s Mimi Bryan Memorial IVT Scholarship. Because of donations from the community, IVT was able to award two scholarships this year.
From Indian Valley Theatre’s first days, Mimi Bryan was there. She was one member of the passionate founding families dreaming big about live community theater. As a longtime educator, Mimi was active on stage, as well as behind the scenes. Most importantly, she was instrumental in giving many budding actors a shot on stage and bringing community theater to life for hundreds of members of the Fox Valley community to enjoy.
In the spirit of her contributions to the Fox Valley theater world, IVT presented this year’s Mimi Bryan Memorial IVT Scholarship to Rebekkah Gebe and McKenna Daly, both from Sandwich High School. They were presented with their awards at the Sandwich High School Awards Night.
Gebe will attend Monmouth College in the fall to pursue a history education major with a minor in theater. While at SHS, she was speech team captain for three years, stage manager for four school productions, designed lights for six shows, did lights for three years and co-emceed one year for the Variety Show. Gebe participated in the One Acts for one year, as well as in Renegade Regiment, where she was drum major. She is a National Honor Society member and earned a 3.6 GPA all four years of high school.
Daly will be a freshman at Waubonsee Community College in the fall, studying to become a pharmacy technician. While at SHS, she was a member of the speech team in both her freshman and sophomore years, and had starring roles in the fall plays and spring musicals. She also participated in IVT’s “The Sound of Music.” She was a member of the Renegade Regiment and Madrigals all four years.
