To the Editor:
It seems that the national conversation regarding immigration is raging out of control. Families, communities and children are continually traumatized by our political inaction and hateful practices. Lip service is plentiful, and Illinois Congressional District 16's Rep. Adam Kinzinger is one of the servers, although he touts support for immigration reform.
Kinzinger continues to obstruct a chance to move the immigration discussion out of the House by not acting on the Queen of the Hill petition, which would bring four immigration bills forward. It seems he prefers ICE raids and the continued separation of children from their families over productive solutions. Fortunately, District 16 has a chance to move him out of his squatting position in the House.
Our chance is Sara Dady, the Democratic candidate for District 16 and she cares about this issue. She will address the community at 5 p.m. Friday at a Families Belong Together Rally on Peace Corner, at First Street and Lincoln Highway.
We hope that all the caring and conscientious people of Congressional District 16 will attend.
