SYCAMORE – A fawn that was born on Memorial Day after its mother was hit by a car in Naperville has died, according to Oak Acres Wildlife Center staff.

Memorial Daysy came into the world after her mother was hit by the car May 28 and was immediately treated for a broken leg after being brought to the wildlife center during the holiday. A Facebook post from Oaken Acres said Daysy was euthanized Saturday morning because there wasn't enough bone at the break to fill in all the spaces that the fragments left and that she had developed an infection as well.

If there was any other humane option to treat the fawn, Oaken Acres Wildlife Center staff said in the statement, the wildlife center would have tried it.
