DeKALB – From Arctic apples to citrus greening-resistant oranges, genetic modification is protecting our produce from weeds, pests and environmental stress.
Join Joel Stafstrom, a plant expert in the Northern Illinois University Department of Biological Sciences, at the next STEM Café to learn how GMOs are made, regulated and tested.
The STEM Café, “Food for Thought: A Tale of Apples and Oranges,” will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Eduardo’s Mexican Restaurant, 206 E. Lincoln Highway in DeKalb. The event is free and open to the public, with food and drinks available to buy.
