To the editor:
After the July 4th fireworks, I took my dog out for a nice evening stroll. I was saddened by the six incidents just on my immediate block, of American flags being flown in the dark. Maybe I was a little more sensitive to this because of it being our greatest national holiday. How does one fly Old Glory and not have the knowledge or respect to illuminate it after dark? When I purchased my home, I deliberately placed my flagpole right below my porch light, as to always make sure it was properly lit up at night.
People, please make that little extra effort to do the right thing and give our nation's banner the respect it deserves!
