Work to begin this week on middle school bike trail

SYCAMORE – Work is scheduled to begin this week on Sycamore Park District’s ACTION 2020 Phase 1 trail connection from Sycamore Middle School to the Brickville Road parking area.

The project is the first phase of the park district’s and DeKalb County Forest Preserve District’s efforts to extend the Great Western Trail across Sycamore, which is part of the DeKalb County Greenways and Trails Plan.

Work, which is anticipated to finish by mid to late fall, will begin with crop removal followed by erosion control measures and temporary fencing, tree removal and excavation activities. The 10-foot-wide, half-mile path will run east to west connecting the existing north and south path along the west side of Route 23 to Brickville Road.
