MALTA – Kishwaukee College will host a “Fragments of Kish Wine Walk” on July 19 to commemorate the college’s 50th anniversary.
Participants can taste wine and spirits from local vendors including Jonamac Orchard, Taxco, Whiskey Acres, Waterman Winery, The Forge Brewhouse and Hy-Vee, according to a news release.
The event starts at 4:30 p.m. in the Kishwaukee College Art Gallery, continues outdoors near the greenhouse gardens and ends at 7 p.m. Participants can park in the B Parking Lot on the college campus and enter through Door 58, the release said.
Tickets are on sale now for $35 per person or $60 per couple. Proceeds from the event will benefit Kishwaukee College Foundation Scholarships.
Spokeswoman Kayte Hamel said via email funds raised from the event will go toward a scholarship campaign to raise $25,000 to award 50 scholarships at $500 each to students for the upcoming academic year. She said the attendance goal for the event is 100 people but did not say how many people have signed up for the event so far.
Hamel said via email this is the first time the college has hosted the event and that the event was developed after a Kishwaukee College Foundation member suggested the idea. She said the college and foundation will discuss later whether to make the wine walk an annual event.
Tickets may be purchased online through Eventbrite, on campus in room A1227 located in the Conference Center, by phone at 815-825-9509 and at the door.
