Thank you from Kish Parade

To the Editor:

On behalf of the entire staff and team at Kishwaukee Fest Parade of Parades, a big thank-you to all the volunteers and sponsors of this year’s parade. The 2018 version of the parade was the best we have had with the most new entries.

Special thanks goes to Susan Johnson, parade chair (and husband Steven Keppler Johnson) for the organization on parade night. The lineup of units was professionally done by Bruce Whitman, Jeff Richardson and Robert Snow with help from Mickey Menas Halikias and Steve.

Without the help and guidance from the city of DeKalb staff, Mayor Jerry Smith, Police Chief Gene Lowery, Fire Chief Eric Hicks and city streets crew, the parade could have not happened. Thanks to the great PA announcer Katherine Kit Gannon, the many street volunteers provided by Tamara Person-Hescott and Mike Tritle, who organized the pre-parade car cruise. Many thanks to the various units in the parade.

The parade had a great start with a flyover by Scott Carlson. We would like to acknowledge Aimee Barrows from the Daily Chronicle for the wonderful follow-up article on the parade.

Meet Me at the Fair a success

To the Editor:

Thank you to all of our visitors and volunteers for making Pay-It-Forward House’s 13th annual Meet Me at the Fair event another awesome success! Thank you for supporting our mission over the past 13 years, which has allowed us to provide over 18,600 nights of rest. Clearly, we are serving and our mission is in action!

This is all made possible by the generosity of our wonderful community, whose support provides our home-away-from-home to our guests who suddenly find themselves in DeKalb County because of a loved one’s illness. We are continually humbled and awed by the gracious generosity and caring of our community!

Our gratitude goes out to all of the wonderful volunteers who shared their precious time and helped us welcome all of our visitors to the Fair. It was joyous to see all the smiling faces of our visitors and volunteers! It takes hours and hours of our volunteers' and of our staff’s time to pull together this great event, and the results are priceless!

We would also like to thank our corporate sponsors that allows us to provide this event free to all who attend:

Somonauk Room Level Sponsor ($1,000+): Kindred Hospital – Sycamore, KishHealth Systems of Northwestern Medicine, Douglas C. & Lynn M. Roberts Family Foundation, Ideal Industries Foundation and Upstaging

Edward Room Level Sponsor ($500): DeKalb-Sycamore Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC

Charles Room Level Sponsor ($250): Medical Outsourcing Solutions and The Suter Company

ADA Room Level Sponsor ($100): Heartland Bank & Trust Co., Crum-Halstead Insurance Agency, Dr. Joseph Sullivan D.D.S, Illinois Community Credit Union, Northern Rehab Physical Therapy, First State Bank and Swedberg Electric Inc.

On behalf of the Board of Directors and our guests, past, present and future at Pay-It-Forward House, we are grateful, thankful and feel very blessed for your support and kindness!
