NIU to offer Title IX coordinator, administrator certification training

DeKALB – Northern Illinois University’s Office of Academic Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is pleased to announce a training partnership with the Association of Title IX Administrators, or ATIXA, to provide Title IX Level One Coordinator and Administrator Certification Training Sept. 17, 18 and 19 at Northern Illinois University, Clara Sperling Sky Room, Holmes Student Center, DeKalb.

The three-day course focuses on the role of Title IX coordinators, Title IX and VAWA/Clery compliance, investigation oversight, athletics equity and disability compliance.

Title IX is the first legislation to prohibit sexual discrimination in schools and applies to men and women in higher education and secondary education as well as, all areas of school not just sports. Participants will not only learn from the lecture portion of the training, but also participate in activities to apply the skills covered in the training.

ATIXA is the premier association for Title IX Training with a number of certification courses that meet the growing demand for new and unique professional development opportunities. W. Scott Lewis, a partner
with The NCHERM Group with more than
20 years of experience, will lead the training.
