MALTA – Kishwaukee College professors will continue to lead academic discussion in "The Dialogues," a regularly occurring series on campus.
Jenniver Jossendal, sociology and history professor of sociology at the college, will debut the series with "#BadWords: Language, Technology, and Free Speech" from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in room A1225 on campus, 21193 Malta Road.
"The Dialogues: #BadWords" will be a comprehensive discussion detailing the historical and sociological evolution of free speech in America, including advancements of technology and the important impact on speech, language and literacy, according to a news release.
"The Dialogues" series will be held about once A month and will allow for members of the community to join Kishwaukee College faculty, staff and students in thoughtful, civil discourse on topics relevant to the current events and issues facing the United States and its role in the world. Similar future events will occur on the fourth Wednesday of every month, according to a news release.
The second forum in "The Dialogues" series will be "Why Your Vote Matters: Local State & National Elections" and will be held Nov. 28. The events are free and open to the public.
