Haunted house, costume contest at ‘Spookathon’

DeKALB – The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of DeKalb, 158 N. Fourth St., will host a Halloween “Spookathon” from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

All the funds raised from the requested donation of $5 a person or $20 a family will go to UUFD’s children’s programming.

The event features a haunted house designed and run by children. This year’s theme is “Haunted Hospital.” Little ones can visit the friendly Pumpkinland for reading and playtime. Other highlights include a Magic Show by Cerlin at 5:30 p.m., a musical performance by Ordinary Monsters at 6 p.m. and a spooky movie at 6:30 p.m.

There will be readings by Madame Wren’s unique bird oracle or Cerlin’s tarot cards or palm reading.

In the Fellowship Hall, there will be facepainting and a costume contest with prizes.

Judging will be at 5:15 p.m. Chili and soup will be available for purchase as well as baked goods.

For information, call the UUFD church office at 815-756-7089.
