MUNCIE, Ind. – After coach Rod Carey talked about the potential that the Northern Illinois offense has for explosive plays, the Huskies showed glimpses of that in a win over Ball State.
The defense, once again, showed its consistent explosiveness in the 24-16 road win Saturday.
NIU (3-3, 3-0 Mid-American Conference) allowed only one touchdown to Ball State (2-4, 1-1).
And that was on a drive that started at the NIU 3-yard line after Ray Wilborn returned a Marcus Childers interception for 43 yards.
“I would have said he had an outstanding game if he hadn’t thrown that pick,” Carey said. “But it’s another step forward. I think he had good confidence in there today.”
