Free Community Resource Fair set for Tuesday at Sycamore High

SYCAMORE – Residents wishing to learn more about community resources and take advantage of free groceries and a free meal are invited to Family Service Agency’s Free Community Resource Fair on Tuesday in Sycamore.

The fair will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sycamore High School, 427 Spartan Trail. Free transportation to the fair is available through TransVAC and by calling 815-758-6641. The fair will be hosted by FSA in conjunction with the Permanency Action Team of DeKalb County, TransVAC and Sycamore School District 427, according to Sarah Slavenas, FSA development director.

Representatives from these agencies will be available to share information about resources they offer to residents: DeKalb Housing Authority, Safe Passage Inc., Children’s Home and Aid, Ben Gorden Center, Kishwaukee United Way, Northern Illinois University’s Couple and Family Therapy Clinic, RAMP, Goodwill Resource Room, Kishwaukee College, 4-C: Community Coordinated Child Care of DeKalb County, Greater Elgin Family Care Center, DeKalb County Health Department, NIU’s Community Counseling Training Center, Suicide Prevention Services of America, Family Service Agency of DeKalb County, Illini Care, TransVAC, the DeKalb County Regional Office of Education, The Salvation Army, Streamwood Behavioral Health Care, DeKalb County Youth Services Bureau and DeKalb County Township.

Additionally, Target Distribution Center will provide volunteers to help disperse food for participants, Slavenas said.
