NSEC to offer free course for Safe+Sound Week

DeKALB – The National Safety Education Center will host OSHA 7500 – Introduction to Safety and Health Management on Friday at Northern Illinois University-Rockford.

NSEC is offering the free course as part of Safe+Sound Week, an annual nationwide event led by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration to encourage every workplace to have a safety and health program. In 2018, more than 2,700 businesses helped increase awareness about workers’ health and safety by participating in Safe+Sound Week.

OSHA 7500 – Introduction to Safety and Health Management covers the effective implementation of a company’s safety and health management system. This interactive training session covers the four core elements of an effective safety and health management system. Upon successfully completing the course, students will have the ability to evaluate, develop and implement an effective safety and health management system for their company.

The class will meet from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Registration is open at nsec.niu.edu. There is no course fee, but there is a $7.50 registration fee.
