Extension offers Fall into Spring mini conference

SYCAMORE – For the second year, University of Illinois Extension, DeKalb County, will host a Fall into Spring mini conference Sept. 14 at the DeKalb County Farm Bureau.

Join DeKalb County Master Gardeners at the fall seminars to learn about current gardening methods and new tips to have a successful gardening season next year.

The presentations will be:

• Richard Hentschel: Basic Pruning Skills – Learn about the how and when of pruning methods best suited to the varieties of shrubs you have.

• Sandy Wentworth: What’s your Fall Magic? – Learn how to rejuvenate and construct new containers designed for the fall using carefully selected frost tolerant plants.

• Diane Plewa: Top Tree Diseases in Illinois – Learn about common tree diseases including identification and management.

The conference will be from 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 14 at the Farm Bureau, 1350 W. Prairie Drive in Sycamore. The fee is $25, which includes morning refreshments and handouts.
