The University of Illinois Extension DeKalb County Master Gardeners will once again host the Gardener’s Pathway workshop on Saturday Feb. 22, from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the Kishwaukee College Conference Center.

Advanced registration is required by Feb. 15. Workshops have limited seating space and sessions will be filled in the order registrations are received.

Two keynote presentations are planned: William Moss, “Garden Boss” and authority in landscape design, horticulture and urban agriculture will present “Lesser Known, Lesser Grown Tasty Veggies for your Home”; and Kim Hartmann, landscape designer with Countryside Flower Shop and Greenhouse, will present “Landscape 101: From Planning to Planting.”

Along with these keynote presentations, attendees will choose from a selection of workshops ranging from “Designing with Daylilies”; “Demystifying Hydrangeas”; “Patterns and Rhythms in the Garden”; “From the sublime to the contemptible: preserving rare plants and dealing with invasive species in the Midwest”; “If You Plant It, They Will Come … A Plan to Attract Birds”; “Pruning to Energize your Flowering Shrubs”; and a make and take on “Terrarium/Vivarium Basics”.

The workshop fee is $50, and includes morning refreshments, lunch, a welcome bag and selected handouts. In addition to the workshops, there will be a wide variety of vendors.

To register for the 2020 Gardener’s Pathway, go online to the U of I Extension website, www.web.extension.illinois.edu/bdo. If you need a paper copy mailed to you, call 815-758-8194.
